The City of St. John’s will be hosting a World Poetry Day Reading Event on Thursday, March 19, at 7 p.m. in the Foran Greene Room, Fourth Floor, City Hall.
The event will be hosted by the City’s Poet Laureate Mark Callanan and feature the following five poets:
- Allie Duff
- Paul Moorehead
- Julia Polyck-O’Neill
- Anna Swanson
- Agnes Walsh
This is a public event and registration is not required. Tea, coffee and light refreshments will be served.
- The annual CVITP (Community Volunteer Tax Program) tax clinics are back!
Volunteers will be on hand to assist with tax returns for those with a modest income and a simple tax return. First come first served.Modest Income: Single $40,000, two person household (single parent or married/common-law couple) with total income below $55,000.

Gonzaga High School Pop Up Prom Shop is back by popular demand!
Community Pop Up (CPU) – Saturday, March 21, 2026
TIME: 12:00 noon – 3:00pm SHARP
Location: Gonzaga High School (Student/Parking Lot Entrance to the left side of the main entrance).
You can drop off gently-used prom attire at the main office Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 3:30 pm.
If you would like to donate financially or “adopt a graduate,” please email tracyanngardiner@nlesd.ca and she will connect you with the parent volunteers leading this part of the initiative.
Any graduating student from any high school in our province can visit our Pup Up Prom Shops here at Gonzaga on the aforementioned dates.
We have a selection of FREE prom attire.

The 2026 People of the Sea Service will take place this coming Sunday, March 22 at 2:30pm. This will be at Memorial United Church in Portugal Cove. All denominations and churches are invited as well as members of the general public. Join us as we recognize, honour and pay respect to all of those who feed us , protect us and care for us as they work on the ocean. All are also invited to stay for a reception following the service to meet many of our special invited guests.

Newfoundland.
We provide food, shelter, and essential medical care, while working hard to find them loving

CFUW (The Canadian Federation of University Women) is preparing for its Great Big Book Sale by collecting books from February 28 to March 15 at the Former Globo Shoes location in the Avalon Mall parking lot. The sale takes place March 26-March 28.
Last year’s sale was very successful. CFUW St. John’s was able to fund $45,000 in scholarships and $20,000
in Community Outreach.
Presentation on Grief and Bereavement For Women by By Rev. Tony Bidgood, CSSR
Thursday, March 26th at 7 PM at Church of the Good Shepherd
Grief is a normal and natural part of living, albeit a difficult one. This presentation will involve conversation around the nature of grief, its different aspects, its life cycle and coping methods. In a supportive and safe environment, we will discuss the experience of grief, learn about the nature of grief, how it changes throughout life, its ‘ripple effects’ and ways of coping and self-care. We will also consider grief from a Christian perspective. This presentation will invite participation to the extent that people feel comfortable.
This event is hosted by the Ladies Fellowship Group and will replace our Tuesday meeting in March.

Take Out orders are to be picked up at 5:00 pm. Eat In’s will be 6:30 for dinner at 7:00 pm.
