-Events with a gaming element as a part of the program (ie: 50-50 draw at the dinner/dance) and not the sole reason to attend may be accepted.
To mark the 25th anniversary of September 11th, 2001, St. John’s International Airport (SJIA) is hosting a ceremony to remember the lives lost and reflect on the profound impact of that day.
The ceremony will also recognize the important role that the YYT community played in the immediate aftermath, when the Airport accommodated diverted aircraft and their passengers and became part of an extraordinary and emotional response.
Several uniformed emergency responders will be in attendance. Remarks will be delivered by Dennis Hogan, Chief Executive Officer, SJIA; His Worship Danny Breen, Mayor of the City of St. John’s; and the Honourable Joedy Wall, Minister of Health and
Community Services, Minister of Mental Health and Addictions, Minister Responsible for Newfoundland and Labrador Health Services, and MHA for Cape St. Francis.

The Friends of the Garden Plant Sale is back for fall! Shop a huge selection of NL-hardy, locally grown plants, with experts on hand to help you find the right additions to your garden. The Parish of The Resurrection will be holding its first annual craft fair and vendors market on Saturday September 12th from 10:00-4:00 at All Hallows Elementary School in North River. There is a light lunch of soup, sandwich & bottled water for $5.00 eat in or take out and a canteen. Admission is free but we will be taking donations of non-perishable food items for our local food bank.

On Sunday afternoon, September 13, from 12:30pm to 2:30pm Gower Street United Church, St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church (“The Kirk”), the Roman Catholic Basilica, and the Anglican Cathedral will celebrate being neighbours and to share that celebration with the community. The Gower Street Block Party will take place on the small strip of Gower Street on the North side of the Anglican Cathedral, between Cathedral Street and Church Hill.
Join them for live music, entertainment for kids, hotdogs, popcorn and drinks, a
bouncy castle, face painting and a great chance to gather as a community in fellowship.

Recent earthquakes in Colombia and Venezuela have bought untold suffering to individuals, families and communities. Development and Peace Caritas Canada is sponsoring a fundraiser to assist the people of these countries. A concert will be held at St. Teresa’s Church, Mundy pond Rd. The Newfound Riders are pleased to announce the 23rd Annual Constable Sam Jeffers Memorial Motorcycle Ride, taking place on September 19, 2026.
Registration will begin at 9:00 a.m. at the Peace and Police Officers’ Monument, Confederation Building East Parking Lot, with motorcycles departing at 10:00 a.m. under police escort.
The ride will travel west via the Trans-Canada Highway to Whitbourne before continuing through Blaketown, Dildo, New Harbour and across the New Harbour Barrens to Constable Jeffers’ Memorial near the Town Hall in Carbonear before riding through his hometown of Freshwater.
Proceeds from the event, along with donations received, will be directed toward the continued maintenance and preservation of police and peace officer memorials through the Newfoundland and Labrador Police and Peace Officers’ Memorial Association and the Constable Sam Jeffers Memorial.
The Newfound Riders welcome all motorcyclists and supporters to participate in this meaningful annual tradition.

On October 16, Guardians of Recovery invites you to Ben’s Benefit — a night of music, remembrance, recovery and hope.
Ben’s story is at the heart of this event.
His life was tragically cut short by addiction, but his story has become part of a much larger mission: to challenge stigma, educate communities and create better pathways to recovery.
It is an opportunity to remember those we’ve lost, celebrate those who have found recovery, stand beside families who are still fighting, and support the work of creating meaningful recovery solutions.
