Great Big Book Sale

CFUW (The Canadian Federation of University Women) is preparing for its Great Big Book Sale   by collecting books from February 28 to March  15 at the Former Globo Shoes location in the Avalon Mall parking lot. The sale takes place March 26-March 28.   

Last year's sale was very successful. CFUW St. John's was able to  fund $45,000 in scholarships and $20,000  
in Community Outreach.

are once again offering free income tax services to senior citizens and other individuals of the St.
John’s, Mount Pearl and surrounding areas with a personal income of $40,000 or less. This program
excludes all persons with self-employment, rental income or income from foreign sources.

People of the Sea Service

 People of the Sea Service continues. Memorial United Church in Portugal Cove will be hosting the 2026 People of the Sea Service at 2:30pm on Sunday, March 22. This service recognizes all those who make a living from or on the sea through harvesting, researching, protecting and respecting our oceans in times of peace and war. Everyone is invited to this service to join with representatives from all levels of government, local community leaders, business leaders and others to celebrate and pay homage to the close cultural and historical ties to the sea. Everyone is welcome. A reception will follow the service.
