Saturday, September 12th / 7pm at the Arts & Culture Centre – St. John’s, there will a FREE public screening of “Don’t Tell The Newfoundlanders”, a documentary based on Greg Malone’s best-selling book that tells the true story of Newfoundland’s less-than-constitutional confederation with Canada in 1949. Featuring rare and never-before-seen archival film footage, as well as interviews with Newfoundland historian, John Fitzgerald, celebrated author, Bernice Morgan and renowned political satirist, Rick Mercer, the documentary also features recorded audio of the debates and arguments between Joey Smallwood, Peter Cashin and others at the National Convention leading up to Confederation.
