Coast 101.1 offers Community Matters listings free of charge for events by charities and registered not for profit groups.

Please send your event information to onair@coast1011.com. Text written emails, please. Posters are not placed in the listing. Ensure your accuracy and spelling as we often “cut & paste” your information.

Items we cannot accept for Community Matters include:

-For profit events

-Private fundraising events by/for individuals without board/community group oversight (online auctions/fundraising posts like GoFundMe, family organized fundraising events)

-Straight lottery/gaming events (Bingo, Chase The Ace, Poker) where the only or main reason to attend is participation in the lottery/gaming

-Events with a gaming element as a part of the program (ie: 50-50 draw at the dinner/dance) and not the sole reason to attend may be accepted.

Red Cross Needs Volunteers

Memorial United Church in Portugal Cove will be holding its biggest and most exciting flea market yet on Saturday, August 22 from 10am-1pm.This market features the $5 bag. You get a grocery bag for five dollars and you can have everything you can fit into the bag.There will be a huge selection of new and used items such as kitchenware, games, toys, footwear, arts and craft supplies, furniture, Christmas decorations, canning supplies, books, CD’s & LP’s and BBQ and much, much more. Several other local vendors will also be there as well offering even more variety.

CBN Memorial Project

The Lower Island Cove CBN Memorial Project.
We are a non-profit organization raising funds for the town to erect a memorial for fallen and present soldiers.
There is currently a ticket draw set up to help with fundraising.
The prize consists of:
  • Shadow box framed Newfoundland Regiment hockey jersey, signed by all the team from the 2025-2026 season
  • 2 season tickets for the home games of the 2026-2027 hockey season
  • NL Regiment hockey puck and 2 coins
  • Framed NL Regiment scarf with 3 badges
Tickets are $5 each
Draw date: Sept 19, 2026 from the Mary Browns Centre
Approx value $4000 or cash equivalent

If you love to sing, The Rocky Isle Singers would be happy to welcome you to it’s non audition Community Choir, Oilean ( pronounced il-yawn, which is island in Gaelic ).
