Newfie Brunch

Memorial United Church in Portugal Cove will be hosting their annual spring Newfie Brunch on Saturday April 18th from 11am-1pm. The menu will consist of beans, bologna, toutons, scrambled eggs, toast, juice, and tea or coffee. Ticket prices are only $15 for adults and $7 for children under 12. There will also be a book sale, bake sale, door prizes and ticket sales.

Flipper Dinner

Red Cross Needs Volunteers

150 RCAFA (North Atlantic) Wing will be having their Flipper/Roast Beef Dinner on Tuesday, April 28 at Building 565, Roosevelt Ave., Pleasantville. This will be Eat In or Take Out. Cost is $30.00. Take Out orders are to be picked up at 5:00 pm. Eat In’s will be 6:30 for dinner at 7:00 pm. SNAP Application

The SPCA St. John’s will be reopening its SNAP Application on Wednesday, April 22 from 12:00pm – 5:00pm. We will be accepting 100 new applications for surgery dates being booked between June – August, 2026. For those who are interested in participating in the SNAP Program, please visit the SPCA St. John’s Website for details on the program, instructions on how to complete the online application form and the program requirements. The application will only be available on this date and time and will close again once it has filled. We would like to thank you for your interest in our program.

Roast beef supper fundraiser

The Carbonear Legion is hosting a roast beef supper fundraiser on behalf of the SSVP Carbonear Foodbank. Suppers are eat-in or takeout, and tickets must be purchased in advance. Tickets are $17 and can be purchased at the Legion or the food bank. The fundraiser will be held at the Carbonear Legion from 2 pm to 7 pm on April 4th, 2026 (suppers are available from 4 pm to 6 pm) — in addition to the suppers, they have a fantastic lineup of performers.

Would you like to volunteer to help another adult learn to read and write? If you can read, you can tutor.

2026 BMO Walk so Kids Can Talk is a 5 km, family, friends and school-friendly event taking place on Sunday, May 3, 2026, both in person and virtually across Canada. Participants from coast to coast to coast will come together to support Kids Help Phone and help ensure young people always have a place to turn for support.

St. Lawrence Anglican Church in Portugal Cove will be hosting an evening of Contemporary Christian and Country Gospel music on Sunday, May 3rd, starting at 7 pm.
